My Classical Indian army also can field the troops for Republican Indian, who are basically the same save for their lack of Elephants. These are the guys that fought against Alexander the Great and resisted intrusion through the Hindu Kush; they were divided into an array of minor states. As a result, they can choose from up to five different home topographies, depending upon which (and where) they were.
This is a very interesting army of lots of mounted troops split between Bad Horse, Chariots, and Elephants; and then a massive force of crappy infantry. It is certainly not a maneuver army.
The most prestigious, effective, and dangerous troops in the Indian armies were their elephants trained for war. The front one in this column is from Irregular; the rear one (the General) is Old Glory.
The left stand is Essex; the right one (with the general and his parasol) is Old Glory.
Chariots were used in India long after they were abandoned in the Fertile Crescent of the Middle East.
India was not known for its expert cavalry, so these are rated as Bad Horse in Triumph. Figures are a mixture of Xth Legion and Essex.
The best infantry in India at the time! But not so great. Heavy Foot. Figures are a mixture of Xth Legion and Essex.
Horde. These figures are a mix of Essex, Xth Legion, and Khurasan.
Bow Levy, with possible Shower Shooting for the better ones. The ones shown are all Essex, I think, but I've got Xth Legion and Irregular figures in other stands.
